Croatia
CROATIA - we spent one of the best months of my life in this Beautiful old 16th century villa overlooking a sleepy fishing village called 'Sipan'.
I loved watching the locaLs in the little village play bocce in the square in the afternoons. there was so much cheering and excitement and you could tell that everyone knew each other really well, it was like they were all part of one big family.
The clouds in croatia were so dramatic and looked like something out of a painting.
my favourite little cove on the island
Croatia has the most amazing black risotto, it's so buttery & delicious.
one of our favourite things to do was to take a picnic up to a church which had an incredible view of the sunset. To get up there it was a steep climb and you had to get past some obstacles including big cows.
the view from the top of the hill was truly beautiful. We set up our little picnic with some wine from a local 'mum and pop' run farm and watched the sun set behind the other islands.
Zdenka, our surrogate mother and caretaker in Sipan would bring us fresh fish from the markets and leave us bowls of fresh fruit from her garden most mornings. She was so sweet & i'll always remember her. We became friends with her and would go downstairs and have wines with her in the afternoons.
Celebrating the recent engagement of Jesse and Steph with a picnic at the church sunset point
we took so many lovely walks on the island, whether we were discovering abandoned churches or getting followed by random dogs we were always coming across something new.
We were there for the worst rain storm in over 30 years and were without power for almost 2 days. The lightening was like a strobe light all night and I got this photo showing how the the whole bay was being lit up. IT was quite beautiful to watch.
Hope to return to this paradise again some day.
