There is nothing more Danish, other than a Danish open sandwich "smørrebrød", than a hot dog stand. One of the best ones is DØP (The organic hot dog stand) which is located by The Round Tower on Købmagergade pedestrian street and by The Church of The Holy Ghost on Strøget pedestrian street. We went to the one near the round tower on a cold winter's night and it was the most satisfying feast. The sausages are made of organic meat and you can get a platter with delicious roasted beetroot & spinach mash.

This is an amazing area to visit. Freetown Christiana is a self-proclaimed autonomous neighborhood of about 850 residents, covering 34 hectares. Christiania has been a source of controversy since its creation in an abandoned military area in 1971. Its cannabis trade was tolerated by authorities until 2004. Since then, measures for normalising the legal status of the community have led to conflicts, police raids and negotiations which are ongoing. As a result there are 'dos and don'ts' rules posted everywhere about not running, being on cell phones or taking photos/video of anyone inside the community walls. It is very interesting walking through. There are lots of old buildings, huts & houses covered in painted murals.  It is a very colorful, artistic environment and with a very close knit community. Musicians play in the small bars and restaurants that you might mistake for someone's home while others stand around the communal bomb fires.
